Woman Dies in Head On Collision Near Worland

Controlled substance use and driver inattention are being investigated as contributing factors in a two vehicle fatal crash south of Worland on September 22nd. The crash occurred at 2:00 p.m. at mile post 160.80 on US 20 five miles south of Worland.

54 year old Ricky L. Capellen of Riverton, Wyoming was traveling northbound in a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette. Prior to the crash, the northbound Corvette entered the southbound lane of travel. 61 year old Karen S. Davis of Worland, Wyoming was traveling south in a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu. As the Corvette driven by Mr. Capellen was travelling in the wrong lane, a head on crash between the two vehicles ensued.

Karen Davis was buckled in at the time of the crash but still sustained fatal injuries. Mr. Capellen sustained injuries from the crash and was transported to the Washakie Medical Center in Worland. Charges against Mr. Capellen are pending at this time.
