CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — First lady Carol Mead has joined an effort to help prevent underage drinking in Wyoming.

In a new media campaign, Mead calls underage drinking an epidemic in Wyoming.

Mead says underage drinking is a leading factor in the top three causes of death among youth in the state, which include automobile crashes, homicides and suicides.

She says underage drinking has serious impacts on the brain development of children.

The Wyoming Department of Health, the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming and others are participating in the campaign.
