Filmmaker From Wyoming Seeks Votes For Entry In Film Festival
Director, actress, and Wyoming native Katie Mae Peters is seeking the help of fellow Wyomingites for her entry in famous Austin, TX film festival, Fantastic Fest.
Fantastic Fest is the country's largest genre film festival. This year's festival will be premiering Tim Burton's newest film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Tim Burton himself will be attending the screening as a special guest and speaker.
In honor of Mr. Burton, the film festival sent out a challenge to filmmakers to "Burtonize" their entries. The stipulations were that it had to make sense, be under 30 seconds in length, and end with the phrase "That's Fantastic." Peters' crew decided to recreate the opening title sequence of 'Reservoir Dogs'. "To 'Burtonize' it, we filmed it in front of the iconic Austin "Hi, How Are You" graffiti work that adds to the keep Austin weird vibe and in editing pulled in the saturation values to reply give our world that Burton color pop effect." Peters said.
If selected or if they land in top 3, there's a good chance Tim Burton himself will screen the short.
