The calls to Wyoming’s Poison Center hotline change with the weather. Early warm spring temperatures may be why the regional poison center has already received double the amount of calls over last year.

Poison Center Nurse, Joan McVoy, says if your reaching for the bug spray to combat pests like ants be sure and read the label and keep products out of the reach of children.

"Ya know, I worked the phones today and I had several calls about ant poisons. Make sure that when you buy these products you read the label. I would avoid the ones with arsenic in them."

McVoy says, with ants, its best to use a bait-type product, because the ants will carry the poison back to the colony, making it more effective.

Other spring time reminders; If you're spring cleaning don't mix bleach with other cleaners. It can create a dangerous gas.

And if you have fertilizers around, never put them in unlabeled containers and keep them away from kids and animals.

You can call the regional poison center 24 hours a day seven days a week at 1 800 222 1222.
