Girl scouts from Wyoming and Montana will gather in Casper at the end of the month.

Its 100 years since the organization got started and they'll use the milestone to celebrate a century of providing girls with leadership skills.

"Currently in the nation only about 10 percent of girls are girls scouts but 80 percent of female business leaders and CEOs were girl scouts and 100 percent of NASA female astronauts were girl scouts."

Anna Paige, for the Wyoming and Montana Girl Scout Council says Casper was the location of the first girl scout troop in the state back in 1922. Camp Sacajawea, on Casper Mountain, was founded in 1936.

The Camp 2012, "Year of the Girl", 100 year celebration happens January 28th and 29th. Its one of 6 different events all themed around different time periods.

"Anyone that wants to experience what girl scouting is about is welcome. To register for the event just go on to our website and the information is there on how you can register and come see what girl scouting is all about."

Registration closes on January 13th. Girls grades K - 12 and supervising adults are welcome.
