The Wyoming House of Representatives will meet Wednesday night and the state Senate on Thursday afternoon to take care of unfinished business from the 2018 budget session.

That business includes voting on capital construction and education funding as well as possibly trying to override any vetoes Governor Matt Mead may issue.

Lawmakers were able to agree on a budget compromise that they approved on Saturday, but the thorny issues of education funding and capital construction remained unresolved as the clock approached midnight. The governor has three days to consider the budget before issuing any vetoes and Sunday [yesterday] is exempt from that count. That gives him until midnight Wednesday.

The Wyoming Constitution prohibits the legislature from meeting on Sunday, according to Legislative Service Office Director Matt Obrecht. The Wyoming House is slated to meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Senate is slated to convene at 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the Legislative Service Office website.

There is also the possibility that either or both bodies could add extra hours or days to those meetings if needed.
