Wyoming's new "stand your ground" law went into effect a month before the killing.

Chief Justice Michael Davis said the court will take the case under advisement and will issue its opinion later.

The "stand your ground" law says a person "shall not be criminally prosecuted" for using "reasonable defensive force."

The Wyoming Attorney General and Natrona County District Attorney offices asked for the review after a judge dismissed a first-degree murder charge.

District Attorney Dan Itzen says he plans to appeal the decision.

John has pleaded not guilty in the case.

John claims to have shot Willow in self-defense after Willow charged at John inside the trailer home.

The Casper Police Department declined to say whether John is the same suspect arrested in connection with Friday morning's fatal shooting.
