Wenk will retire Sept. 29 after 43 years with the park service.

Cameron Sholly replaces former Yellowstone Superintendent Dan Wenk less than a week after he said he was being forced out as a possible "punitive action" over the park's bison policies.

Last year, members of the park's maintenance department were disciplined after an investigation found female employees were subjected to sexual harassment and other problems.

Some person or persons entered the Stephens Creek facility, which is permanently closed to the public, and cut fencing.

Two-thirds of park visitors surveyed said finding available parking is a problem.

More than half of the record 4.25 million visits to Yellowstone National Park in 2016 took place during June, July, and August.

58,000 comments came in to the National Park Service during the most recent 60-day public comment period on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the park's proposed winter use plan. Consideration of those comments means no final plan in place this December. Listen here,

It was Brian and Marilyn Matayoshi's  fourth trip to Yellowstone National Park this week. Following a sudden encounter with a mother grizzly bear  Brian Matayoshi was killed. The incident occurred not far from Yellowstone Falls and left much of the immediate area temporarily closed to tourists. Park and Wildlife officials answered questions and shared details with the press earlier today. Here's
