CHEYENNE, WYO. --- State Superintendent of Public Education Cindy Hill is seeking to require background checks for employees in her department.

John Masters, lawyer for Hill, said the department is considering background checks through the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation for perhaps as many as 30 employees who work with children.

Chris Boswell is director of the Wyoming Department of Administration and Information, which handles state personnel.

Boswell says his office has forwarded a request from Hill to require the background checks to the Wyoming Attorney General's Office for review.

Although Boswell says he understands that Hill has proposed drug testing for employees, Attorney Masters says there are no plans to require for drug testing.
