A driver of a semi tractor-trailer died when he got out of his rig and a pickup hit him near Bill on Thursday, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Troopers were dispatched to the scene on Wyoming Highway 59 about 6:30 am., according to the news release.

The pickup was traveling north on the highway and saw the broken-down semi tractor-trailer stopped in the driving lane.

The pickup driver merged into the southbound lane to drive around the rig.

The semi driver did not see the pickup, walked into the southbound lane and was struck by the pickup.

He died at the scene.

Authorities will not release his name until family members have been notified.

This marked the fourth fatality on Wyoming’s highway in 2019 compared to one in 2018, none in 2017, and two in 2016 to date.
