President Commutes Casper Woman’s Sentence
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — President Barack Obama has commuted the prison sentence of a Casper woman convicted of drug crimes.
Angela LaPlatney was one of 61 prisoners whose sentences Obama commuted on Wednesday. All of the prisoners who were granted shorter sentences are serving time for drug convictions.
LaPlatney was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2005 for selling methamphetamine and hiding a man wanted on a felony charge. Her sentence will now end July 28.
Obama has now commuted 248 individuals since taking office.
