A FAMILY PRACTICE NURSE IN LANDER HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE COUNTS OF ILLEGAL DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES IN 2014, INCLUDING TWO COUNTS THAT CERTAIN DRUGS CAUSED TWO DEATHS.

FEDERAL COURT RECORDS SAY MARGARET EASLEY PLEADED NOT GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT IN LANDER LAST WEEK, AND THAT SHE WAS RELEASED ON A $25,000 UNSECURED BOND.

THREE COUNTS CLAIM EASLEY UNLAWFULLY DISTRIBUTED OXYCODONE, HYDROCODONE AND METHADONE, AND EACH COUNT IS PUNISHABLE BY UP TO 20 YEARS IN PRISON.

TWO OTHER COUNTS CLAIM SHE DISTRIBUTED PAINKILLERS THAT RESULTED IN THE DEATHS OF TWO INDIVIDUALS, AND EACH OF THOSE COUNTS IS PUNISHABLE BY 20 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON.

IN NOVEMBER 2014, THE WYOMING STATE BOARD OF NURSING INITIATED AN ADMINISTRATIVE COMPLAINT AGAINST EASLEY BASED ON A WYOMING DIVISION OF CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION REVIEW OF IMPROPER PRESCRIBING PRACTICES.

IN EARLY 2015, EASLEY AGREED TO REFRAIN FROM PRESCRIBING CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, PROVIDE MEDICAL RECORDS, AND TAKE EDUCATIONAL COURSES.

AS A RESULT, THE BOARD OF NURSING ISSUED A LETTER OF REPRIMAND.

JENNIFER BURNS OF THE BOARD OF NURSING SAID THE BOARD IS AWARE OF THE INDICTMENT BUT DECLINED FURTHER COMMENT.

IN A PREPARED STATEMENT, WYOMING U.S. ATTORNEY MARK KLAASSEN SAID PROSECUTING SUCH CASES IS PART OF THE NATIONAL EFFORT TO COMBAT PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE.

BUT EASLEY'S CLINIC IN LANDER POSTED A STATEMENT ON FACEBOOK SAYING IT WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE CHARGES, IT WILL FIGHT THEM IN COURT, AND CALLED KLAASSEN'S PRESS RELEASE UNETHICAL.

22-YEAR-OLD TRISTAN TIMOTHY MEYERS WAS BOOKED INTO JAIL ON RECOMMENDED CHARGES OF CHILD ABUSE AND UNLAWFUL USE OF TOXIC SUBSTANCES.

CHARGING PAPERS SAY A CASPER POLICE OFFICER WAS PATROLLING THE AREA OF EAST SECOND STREET AND WISCONSIN STREET AT ABOUT 4:40 P.M. FRIDAY, WHEN THE OFFICER SAW A DARK BLUE VOLKSWAGEN STOPPED IN THE CENTER TURN LANE. TWO FEMALES, TWO MALES AND AN INFANT WERE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE.

WHEN THE OFFICER CONTACTED THE DRIVER, HE IMMEDIATELY SAID, "HE HIT THE BABY!"

THE DRIVER TOLD THE OFFICER THAT HE HAD PICKED MEYERS UP FROM THE RECREATION CENTER AND TAKEN HIM TO WALMART IN ORDER TO GET FOOD FOR MEYERS. HOWEVER, MEYERS BOUGHT A CAN OF "DUST OFF" INSTEAD OF FOOD.

THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RETURN MEYERS TO THE RECREATION CENTER, AS HE WAS UPSET THAT MEYERS HAD BOUGHT DUST OFF INSTEAD OF FOOD.

WHILE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, MEYERS ALLEGEDLY INHALED THE DUST OFF. PER THE DRIVER'S ACCOUNT, MEYERS THEN "BLACKED OUT" AND STARTED "HITTING THE BABY." THE DRIVER IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO PREVENT MEYERS FROM HITTING THE INFANT.

MEYERS REPORTEDLY BIT THE DRIVER'S RIGHT MIDDLE FINGER BEFORE A WOMAN PULLED MEYERS OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND OFFICERS SHOWED UP.

LARAMIE, WYO. (AP) - THE UW FOUNDATION HAS ASKED TO BE DISMISSED AS A DEFENDANT IN THE LAWSUIT BY A FORMER HUMAN RESOURCES BUSINESS MANAGER WHOSE POSITION WAS ELIMINATED AS PART OF A 2015 RESTRUCTURING.

MANDY DAVIS CONTENDS IN HER LAWSUIT THAT HER LAYOFF WAS ACTUALLY AN ILLEGAL RETALIATION FOR FILING A DISCRIMINATION COMPLAINT AGAINST FOUNDATION PRESIDENT BEN BLALOCK IN JULY 2015.

UW ATTORNEY KAY LYNN BESTOL SAYS DAVIS WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF UW, NOT THE UW FOUNDATION, AND SO THE FOUNDATION SHOULD NOT BE PART OF THE LAWSUIT.

BESTOL ALSO ASKED FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT IN A THURSDAY COURT FILING IN LARAMIE AND SAID THE DEFENDANTS DENY ANY DISCRIMINATION AND RETALIATION.
