LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, INCLUDING MEMBERS OF THE NATRONA COUNTY SPECIAL RESPONSE TEAM, WERE USING A LOUDSPEAKER AND ORDERING A PERSON TO EXIT A RESIDENCE IN CASPER JUST AFTER 12:15 A.M. MONDAY FOLLOWING A REPORT OF AT LEAST ONE GUNSHOT IN THE AREA.
POLICE HAD A SIGNIFICANT PRESENCE IN THE 1100 BLOCK OF BURLINGTON AVENUE, WHERE OFFICERS EVIDENTLY CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR THE PERSON OF INTEREST. THE STREET IS CLOSED OFF FOR SEVERAL BLOCKS STARTING AT NORTH JACKSON STREET.
DETECTIVE TIFFANY ELHART OF THE CASPER POLICE DEPARTMENT TOLD K2 RADIO NEWS THAT THERE WERE NO IMMEDIATE REPORTS OF INJURIES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SHOTS FIRED CALL, WHICH POLICE RECEIVED AT ROUGHLY 10:30 P.M. SUNDAY.
ELHART SAID POLICE WERE LOOKING FOR A PERSON OF INTEREST, WHO SHE DESCRIBED AS A MALE IN HIS MID-FIFTIES. A PERSON OF INTEREST IS NOT NECESSARILY SUSPECTED OF COMMITTING ANY CRIME.
AFTER AN INITIAL SEARCH, SRT OFFICERS ARMED WITH LONG GUNS DEPLOYED AN ARMORED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF A RESIDENCE IN THE 1100 BLOCK OF BURLINGTON AVENUE. HOWEVER, ELHART SAID IT WAS NOT CLEAR WHETHER THE PERSON OF INTEREST WAS ACTUALLY INSIDE THE HOME.
THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY. K2 RADIO NEWS REPORTER TOM MORTON IS AT THE SCENE RELAYING NEW DETAILS AS THEY EMERGE, AND THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED WITH THE LATEST INFORMATION AS IT BREAKS.
