Online Poll Finds Property Taxes Top Issue In Wyoming In 2024

With over 700 people voting, a Townsquare Media online poll conducted over the last several days found a plurality of respondents citing high property taxes as the top election issue in Wyoming this year.

Slightly more than a third cited high property taxes as the top issue. Diversifying the economy placed second in the poll at a little over 16 percent, and legalizing cannabis came in third with about 11 percent.

Immigration, Abortion Access Top Write-In Vote

The poll also allowed people to write in their responses for issues not listed. The most common write-ins were some variation of immigration/border control, followed closely by guaranteeing access to abortions.

That concerns over property taxes would rate as the top issue is probably not surprising, The Wyoming Legislature passed several bills dealing with property taxes in the 2024 session, with one of them being vetoed by Governor Mark Gordon.

It's worth noting that today (May 16) is the beginning of the filing period for candidates in Wyoming to run in the August Primary Election.
