Cheyenne city officials are reminding people not to put car batteries and other hazardous materials in the regular trash following a fire on a sanitation truck last week.

That's according to a post on the city Facebook page.

According to the post, the truck's driver and Cheyenne Fire Rescue acted quickly enough to prevent any injuries or serious damage from the fire. The fire happened on Wednesday, March 12. The post quotes Sanitation Division Manager Austin Reiner as saying “The driver’s quick response and help from Cheyenne Fire Rescue saved the truck from any damage.”

But the post says the incident should serve as a reminder to take batteries and other hazardous waste [see list below] to the Household Hazardous Waste facility at the Transfer Station at 220 N. College Drive. That facility is free for Cheyenne and Laramie County residents.

List Of Hazardous Materials Not To Put In Trash
