2 Charged After Cheyenne Police Called to 911 Hang-Up

Two Cheyenne transients are facing charges following a 911 hang-up at a Cheyenne motel.

According to arrest records, police were called to the Firebird Motel located at 1905 E. Lincolnway shortly before 2 o'clock Monday morning, Oct. 30, in reference to a 911 hang-up.

Police arrived on the scene and developed probable cause to arrest 39-year-old Felix Edgardo Cruz for aggravated assault.

During the investigation, officers also contacted 41-year-old Joshua Eugene Smith outside a residence near Hugur Avenue and East 12th Street.

Police say Smith had an active Laramie County warrant for failure to pay with an original charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. The warrant was signed by Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee on Oct. 9.

Officers also reportedly found two small containers containing suspected methamphetamine on Smith when they patted him down and searched him.

Smith was arrested on the warrant and subsequently charged with misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine.

He made his initial appearance in Circuit Court Tuesday morning, during which his bond was set at $1,000 cash and his arraignment was scheduled for Nov. 8 at 9:30 a.m.

Cruz made his initial court appearance on the aggravated assault charge Monday morning and was seen on two probation violations Tuesday morning.

He's currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond and is scheduled to be back in Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 6 at 10 a.m.
