1 Dead, 2 Hurt After SUV Hydroplanes, Hit by Semi on I-80 in Wyoming
A 22-year-old Utahn is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Sweetwater County, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.
The crash happened around 4:07 p.m. on Monday, May 5, at milepost 139, about 33 miles east of Rock Springs.

According to a fatality crash summary, a Subaru Crosstrek was westbound when it started to hydroplane, went into the median, struck the cable barrier on the driver’s side, and entered the eastbound lane.
"The Subaru continued to the right-hand shoulder, where it started heading back towards the westbound lane," the summary reads.
An eastbound Freightliner then reportedly struck the Subaru on the driver's side, causing the Subaru to enter a counterclockwise spin and come to a rest in the eastbound median.
Sadly, Grace Montierth, who was reportedly buckled up in the Subaru, didn't survive the crash. Two others were also reportedly hurt in the crash, but the summary didn't say to what extent.
Speed and Driver Inattention Possibly to Blame
The summary lists speed and driver inattention as possible contributing factors.
Montierth is the 32nd reported person to die on Wyoming's highways this year. Of those fatalities,10, or 31.25%, have died in crashes on I-80.
