Sunday’s Tempratures Broke Records For Wyoming
Wyoming hit some record temperatures over this past weekend, and we are not done yet. Here are some of the highest temperatures Wyoming and some other states had as of Sunday. Sunday was a record-setting day.
Worland: 110°F.
Cowley: 109°F.
Hot Springs County & Powell: 106°F.
Buffalo: 105°F.
Riverton: 104°F.
Casper: 101°F.
Lander: 102°F, broke a record from 1891.
Douglas, Wyoming: 100°F.
Cody: 102°F to 105°F depending on where the reading was taken.
Some thermometers in Casper, Wyoming, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, broke the needle at 109°F. However, the official observing station at the Casper/Natrona County International Airport recorded a high of 101°F.

But if you think Wyoming had it bad. Montana, the town of Forsyth recorded an unofficial high of 118° F on Sunday. If true, that would shatter their records, including Billings at 111° F and Miles City at 114°.
Across the nation, several locations in the Intermountain West and Northern Plains reached highs between 110°F and 115°F. Here in Wyoming, Worland set the highest recorded high, hitting 110°F.
The highest temperature ever recorded in Wyoming is 115°F (46.1°C), at Basin on August 8, 1983. Diversion Dam recorded a statewide high of 115°F during a major heatwave in July 1988. Bitter Creek: 116°F on July 12, 1900. Worland: Reached 115°F on August 7, 1983.
The Heat Advisory has been extended starting noon Saturday through midnight Tuesday for areas along, north, and east of I-25. Afternoon temperatures will be near or exceed 100 degrees with overnight lows between 65 and 70 degrees. Stay hydrated, eat snacks, and take regular breaks while being outdoors. (NWS Forecast Office Cheyenne, WY).
Some good news: this heat will start to break by Wednesday of this week, and temperatures across the region will dive back down into the 80's. Some of us will even get a little bit of rain.
