The animated horse above the Wrangler in downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming, has been in need of repair for some years now. It's finally happening. I found this post on Facebook:

Here’s the de-tail. This iconic horse and rider have been riding atop The Wrangler in downtown Cheyenne since the early 1960’s and are in dire need of repair. Dismantled today, and now it's time to rebuild so he’ll ride for another 60 years in Downtown Cheyenne. Stay tuned for updates and exciting progress ahead.

The story of the Wrangler in Cheyenne goes way back. I even bought a couple of hats from them.

You can't miss it. The three-story red-painted brick building dominates a corner of Capitol Avenue by the train tracks. Home to some sort of retail outlet since its erection in 1892, the main building was joined with an adjacent former hotel sometime in the 1960s. (The upper floors of the main building itself were also formerly a hotel.)

Together, the two buildings give you about 13,000 square feet of ranchwear and Western clothing, hats, boots, and accessories to choose from or just marvel at. How about a diamond-studded Stetson? Or Cruel Girl jeans? Carhartts? A leather jacket from Arello? Or maybe all you need is a good, old pair of Wranglers?

But that old bucking horse on the top corner of the Wrangler does not always buck like it is supposed to. For many years, it did not move at all. It was way past time to open it up and look at what needed to be fixed.
