Wyoming High School Skiing Scoreboard: Jan. 5-6, 2024

The third weekend of the high school skiing season is finally here. After a delay due to a lack of snow in Casper, the Nordic season will have their second race of the 2024 season. It’s been nearly a month since the season debuted in Lander.

WYOMING HIGH SCHOOL SKIING SCHEDULE ON JAN. 5 & 6, 2024

Nordic Skiing

The Don and Sue Jacobson Memorial Nordic Ski races will be on Casper Mountain. On Friday, skiers will compete in a 6.5km freestyle or skate race that has interval starts at 1 p.m. Saturday will be a 5.5km classic race with a mass start at 10 a.m. The girls’ varsity race will start first on Friday, followed by the boys’ varsity, and then JV. Saturday begins with the boys’ varsity race, followed by the girls’ varsity, and then JV.

The schools competing this weekend are Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale, and Sheridan.

Skiers will be on the trails at the Casper Mountain Trails Center for two days.

Girls Team Scores = Lander 250, Cody 132, Kelly Walsh 126, Laramie 114, Sheridan 110, Natrona County 88, Jackson 81, Pinedale 21.

Boys Team Scores = Kelly Walsh 211, Lander 190, Natrona County 181, Laramie 173, Sheridan 112, Pinedale 21, Cody 13.

FRIDAY FREESTYLE RACE RESULTS

Lander's Emily Anderson won the girls' race at 21:51.6. She was followed by Sheridan's Kayley Alicke (22:09.3) and Lander's Ameya Eddy (22:49.6)

The boys' race was won by Laramie's Jack Voos at a time of 18:28.0. Kalel Brubaker from NC was second (18:50.1). Third place went to Diego Lobatos of Lander (18:52.7).

SATURDAY CLASSIC RACE RESULTS

Lander's Ameya Eddy won the race at 22:29.2. Second was Emily Anderson from Lander (22:39.1), and third was Annika Wilmot (23:22.2), as the Tigers swept the top 3 spots.

Kelly Walsh skier Fisk-Bergstrom Johansson took first place at 18:21.2. Kalel Brubaker from NC finished second (18:28.4), and Lander's Diego Lobatos was third (18:58.3).

Alpine Skiing

Downhill skiers began practicing on Nov. 20, 2023. They start their season next weekend on Casper Mountain.
