Wyoming boys’ golfers at the PGA High School Golf National Invitational enjoyed a solid showing over the three rounds at the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina earlier this week. Two golfers, Tate Nichols and Ryker Lind, finished inside the top 80, and the two teams that played were in the middle of the pack.

Nichols, who will be a junior at Wheatland High School this fall, tied for 50th place at 4-over par. He carded rounds of 70, 73, and 77 over the three days on the Pinehurst No. 8, No.6, and No. 5 courses. Lind, a recent Evanston graduate, tied for 78th at 6-over par. He shot 71, 74, and 77 on the same three courses. For comparison, 28 players finished under par, and the winner shot at 16-under par. There were 301 golfers in the field.

Campbell County and Wheatland competed as teams. The Camels placed 37th at 78-over par, and the Bulldogs finished 43rd at 86-over par. Virginia won the team crown by nine shots, at 13-under par, out of the 55 teams.

Jaxon Burr led Campbell County at 12-over par and tied for 126th. Drew Gemar tied for 150th at 16-over par. Cade Peterson followed for the Camels at 22-over par and tied for 191st. Jackson Evans shot 31-over par and tied for 236th place. Jackson Laakso tied for 274th place at 46-over par.

For Wheatland, Jacob Miller was a 21-over par and tied for 186th. Brecken Sandlian was next for the Bulldogs at 29-over par. He came in at a tie for 227th. Griffin Nichols and Dylan Nelson round out the Wheatland squad. Nichols finished at 32-over par and tied for 245th. Nelson shot 43-over par and tied for 268th place.

What's Ahead For Wyoming Prep Golfers

Tate Nichols, Ryker Lind, and Cade Peterson will join Laramie’s Carson Moniz at the Junior America’s Cup in Portland, OR, July 29-31, 2025.

The 2025 Wyoming High School golf season starts on Aug. 13. The state championships will be Sept. 19-20.
