A couple of weeks ago, North Platte Walleye Unlimited held its annual banquet, which raised money to give back to the community. Over the years, they've given thousands of dollars worth of fishing poles to kids all over Wyoming, and last year, they donated a fish tank to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to help with the future of Walleye stocking in Wyoming waters. A job well done for a group of anglers whose only concern and motivation is to give back to the community.

Once the NPWU holds its banquet, it's time to kick off the fishing tournament season. That means 'tis the season for spring fishing tournaments around the Casper region, and the first one, the 32nd Annual Tough Man Tournament, was held at Alcova Reservoir.

The tournament was a success, too. The 36 boats were treated with decent weather and great fishing, plus they were able to put their angling skills to work and try for some of the cash prizes.

There were multiple categories for the anglers to try to win, including Largest Walley, Largest Trout & Most Suckers.
