Casper’s Busy Construction Season Is Just Getting Started
If you've driven around Casper lately, you have seen the massive amount of construction. It's that time of year, and you should get used to it. We're going to see the work continue for the next couple of years on roads like I-25, Poplar, and 2nd Street.
I know, under your breath, you whisper how tired you are of the orange cones & barrels, lane changes, and construction speed zones. Just think about how great it's going to be in 2028 when many of these big projects are completed.
With big changes and projects come many questions and the need for information. Coming up on Wednesday, May 13, there will be an open house with WYDOT, Oftedal Construction, and the City of Casper to discuss the next phase of the project to improve WYO 220, also known as Poplar Street.
The open house will be the perfect opportunity for people with questions or concerns to ask the engineers and the contractor. So, jot it down on your calendar, May 13, from 5:30 - 7 pm at the Cottonwood Elementary cafeteria.
The next phase will last two years and will be another large project on Poplar, this time between CY and Collins. On the to-do list are total reconstruction, water and sewer line replacements, and addressing other issues in that area.
Here's the deal: with projects like this, there will be some inconveniences, like slow traffic, traffic detours, lots of machinery and manpower in the construction zone, and other pieces to the puzzle that are meant to help the area.
This project will be a burden for some, but for others, the toughest part will be deciding how to reroute their driving routine.
