The Longmire TV show began airing on A & E in 2012, and over a decade ago, Longmire Days began in Buffalo, WY. During Longmire Days, the entire town comes together to bring the spirit of the, now on Netflix, show to life.

This year had some drama leading up to the event, thanks to the SAG/AFTRA/WRITERS strike in Hollywood. It took a last minute waiver to allow the actors to attend and be part of the fun filled weekend.

The 4 day event kicks off on Thursday and rolls right on through Sunday and if you haven't been, go ahead and make plans for 2024. Every year a number of cast members show up, Walt Longmire creator and New York Times best selling author, Craig Johnson is a huge part of the weekend and Buffalo turns into the town of Durant, WY.

Having been a fan of the show Longmire since the beginning, I had no idea what I was getting into when making the 100+ mile drive to Buffalo for this years event.

There were Longmire Ford Broncos driving the streets, Longmire themed stores on Main St, Longmire's favorite menu items at the Busy Bee Café and cases upon cases of Walt Longmire's favorite Rainier Beer.

There was so much Rainier beer sold during weekend, bartenders at the Occidental Saloon said there were as many as three 12-packs being sold every hour on Saturday afternoon.

If you've ever read a Longmire book or watched one episode of the show, you know that Wyoming is represented very well. Not only location names, the Wyoming license plates, but Wyoming's history is featured.

Longmire fans, make a point of marking the event on their calendar as part of their annual summer vacation. It's not just Wyomingites that attend the event, people come from all over the country and even a few fans from outside of the United States.

If you've never been to Buffalo for a visit, I suggest you check it out. Most definitely for Longmire Days in 2024, but also, anytime is a good time to check out Buffalo/Durant.
