Have you ever seen a video on social media and thought it was pretty dumb, then you kept watching it and realized how funny it would be to see it in person?

After talking with Wyoming Game & Fish on Wyoming Hookin' & Huntin' Outdoors recently, that happened to me. We discussed the Casper WILD Turkey issue haunting some folks south of downtown Casper. The next day, I saw a video on Instagram, and the more I watched it, the more I thought it would be funny.

Before you watch this video, know that you shouldn't try to do this, but it's funny.

Even though there's been a population of turkeys in Casper for quite a while, they have become a more significant issue over the last couple of years.

There's a good chance you've had to stop and wait for these turkeys as they cross the street or while they're having a little turkey party in an intersection. Imagine living in those areas and dealing with the mess, noise, and other issues these birds are causing.

One of the most significant issues causing the growing number of birds is that residents in the area feed them. When these birds, or any wild animal, are fed, they will continue to return to the area they were able to get an easy meal—leading to more problems like chasing kids walking to school, dogs getting sick, attracting predators, and causing damage to homes, property, and lawns.

Last year, the city of Casper made feeding the birds illegal, which could come with quite a hefty fine.

Over the next few months, WGFD will address the issue. Be on the lookout for them to begin trapping and relocating many turkeys to perfect locations to support the birds.
