Rodeo is the official sport of the Cowboy State. So, obviously, if there's a Docudrama about rodeo, Wyoming is likely to be involved. That's exactly the case with the film "Outriding The Devil."

OUTRIDING THE DEVIL goes deep into the roots of rodeo and Western heritage. The inspirational story of Texas Rodeo Hall of Famer, Angela Ganter and her daughter Jackie, is the anchor to the docudrama and epitomizes the grit and determination of the Western Spirit. This is a true story of a cowgirl, a world champion barrel racer, a descendent of pioneer ranchers and a breast cancer survivor who turned one of life’s hardest rides into one of the greatest comebacks in Western sports history.

Angela's great-grandparents were among the first to ranch in Comancheria, now West Texas, in 1850. Dramatizations filmed at Mescal Movie Studios add powerful historical context to a story of survival and the strength of the human spirit. Outriding the Devil is an American story. Rodeo is where it started and Rodeo is how it lives on.

The film officially premiered last December at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, and Director Raen LeVell's love of Wyoming, the western culture, history, and rodeo was the driving force behind the premiere at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper.

We're going to be the only movie, I believe, that was premiered at the National Finals Rodeo, as an official National Finals Rodeo event and is now part of the College National Finals Rodeo's opening celebration. So, it's kind of a unique double.

Outriding the Devil stars many of the top rodeo athletes in the country, like world champion Stetson Wright, Rusty Wright, along with Yellowstone and Marshals star Mo Brings Plenty, narrated by Forrie J Smith, Wyomingites Chancey Williams and Ned LeDoux.

You can be a part of the film's Casper premiere on June 13 at Studio City Mesa + ARQ at 7 pm. As a bonus, on Friday, June 12, Raen LeVell will do a Q&A and premiere his short film, which stars Chancey Williams, called "Becoming Billy" at David Street Station.

I had the great pleasure of speaking with Raen LeVell and one of the film's stars, Ned LeDoux, about the film and the excitement in the air ahead of the premiere.
