It's been a busy year for road crews in and around Casper, and it doesn't look like it's slowing down anytime soon. With summer turning to fall and weather predictions a bit unstable, who knows when the first round of winter weather will show up, which can cause issues for some of the construction projects. Hopefully, we have a while before temperatures plummet and snow flies.

That said, the City of Casper recently announced a closure that will affect anyone traveling on 12th and Conwell streets. The intersection at the new Natrona County Health Department will be closed for at least seven days beginning Tuesday, September 22, and will cause travel issues.

According to a post on their Facebook page, a manhole needs some work.

The closure is necessary to replace a sanitary sewer manhole that has become severely degraded. Crews will be working late into the night and early into the morning on September 22 and 23 to complete this urgent repair while sewer flows are at their lowest.

If this is on your normal travel route, plan to change it up, as detours will be in place for most of the week-long closure. You're encouraged to use 4th, 5th, Farnum, or 15th to travel east and west. McKinley and Beverly will be your best bet for smooth north-south travel.

This work needs to be done, so stay patient and use alternate routes to avoid starting your day on the wrong foot. Nothing worse than forgetting about the closures and road work and finding yourself running behind.
