LARAMIE -- John Michael Gyllenborg is one of 319 prospects to receive an invitation to the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine.

The former Wyoming tight end will run through drills and other exercises in front of scouts Feb. 23 through March 2 inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

He is the first Cowboy to be invited to the combine since offensive lineman Frank Crum and linebacker Eaton Gibbs participated in 2024.

Gyllenborg, who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs in at 251 pounds, capped his career in Laramie with 80 receptions for 1,023 yards. He also added seven touchdowns, including three in both 2023 and '24. The Leawood, Kan., product recorded 17 games with three or more receptions in his career.

After snagging a career-high 30 balls for 425 yards in 2024, Gyllenborg reportedly had plenty of suitors if he chose to hit the open market. He was courted by the likes of Notre Dame, Boston College and Texas A&M, among other Power-4 programs. He instead stayed for his final season, stating "legacy" played a role in that ultimate decision.

Same can be said for offensive linemen Caden Barnett and Jack Walsh, who were also coveted, and are now pro prospects.

"I think we all kind of thought, you know, we love Wyoming," Gyllenborg said last July at Mountain West Media Days in Las Vegas. "We love this fan base. We get taken care of. There's just no reason to go somewhere and chase what other people might think you should be chasing.

"So, it really wasn't a difficult decision for a lot of us."

This past season, Gyllenborg recorded 24 receptions for 217 yards with one touchdown. He added a career-high six receptions in his final career game against Hawai'i. He was named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch list twice in his career.

As a junior, he recorded 30 receptions for 425 yards with three touchdowns and earned All-MW honors. He had 23 receptions as a sophomore with three scores. For his career, he averaged 12.8 yards per reception.

He participated in the Senior Bowl in January and helped lead the American team to a 17-9 win. He added a catch in the contest for six yards.

The NFL Scouting Combine will be televised on the NFL Network. Wyoming's annual NFL Pro Day is scheduled for March 11 in Laramie.
