Hogadon Ski Area's new manager says crews at the resort did some snow making earlier in the month, but that's on hold now... it actually melted during this current warm spell.

Next week, was the tentative opening day, but that's not to be. However the new week may bring more winter like temperatures. Hogadon Manager, Tom Spangler, hired to replace Former Manager Gary Vantrease, says once those lower temps hit, he and his team will be ready to go. Spangler, who comes most recently from Victor, Idaho, brings 30 years of ski industry experience.

"We are slowly gearing up and hopefully in the next few weeks we'll get some people on board. That is an ever changing process in the beginning of any ski season."

He says he's had help during the transition from former Manager Vantrease who retired last year. Spangler describes his experience so far at the city owned ski facility. "Its a community oriented and local ski area and it's got a lot of great people that I've already met and a great staff that's here already and I look forward to putting it all together for the ski season."

At this point, he says they all have their eyes on the thermometer. Last year the Hogadon Ski Area had a great snow season, which began with a full opening in early December 2011.
