A Gillette man died in a single-vehicle rollover crash east of Buffalo on Wednesday morning, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Kaleb L. Matthiesen, 22, was driving a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder west on Interstate 90 eight miles east of Buffalo about 7:25 a.m. when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway, and entered the median at mile post 66.5, according to the news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener.

The vehicle was overcorrected, which caused it to spin, trip and roll multiple times back on the highway.

Matthiesen was not wearing his seat belt, which caused him to be ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

He was taken to the Johnson County Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Driver inattention and/or driver fatigue are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.

Interstate 90 was closed temporarily because of the crash.
