Cloudy, Cold, & Light To Scattered Snow Expected Today, Mostly Sunny With Warmer & Drier Conditions This Weekend

An upper-level weather system and cold front will quickly move across the state of Wyoming today.  Expect cloudy to mostly cloudy skies, colder than normal temperatures, and breezy to gusty winds statewide.  Daytime highs will be in the 30's to lower 40's.  Light to scattered snow showers will also be possible throughout the state today.  Slick/icy roadways with periods of reduced visibility will continue to be found across the mountains and mountain passes as well as southwestern, south-central, and north-central portions of the state through mid-day.  Our concern will then turn to southeastern portions of the state this afternoon and early evening.  Heavier snow squalls could slide across southeastern Wyoming and reduce visibility at times.  Roads will also become slick and icy, including I-80 (Rawlins to the Nebraska state line), I-25 (the Colorado state line to Casper), and US-85 (the Colorado state line to Lusk).  We will then see improving weather conditions by the late evening and overnight hours.  However, slick and icy spots will continue over the highest parts of I-80 (Cheyenne to Rawlins) into Saturday morning.  Higher pressure will build over the region this weekend.  Expect sunny to mostly sunny skies, breezy to strong winds, and mainly dry conditions during this time.  Temperatures will also be noticeably warmer and near or slightly above normal.
