The City of Casper is diving into the annual United Way campaign in a big way. Here is the official announcement.

Each year, the City encourages its employees to participate in the United Way’s annual fundraising campaign. This year, employees of the City of Casper are coming together in a variety of ways over the next two months in order to benefit the United Way of Natrona County.

Employees can choose to make one-time donations, do payroll deductions, or participate in a variety of special opportunities and events. If you stop at a City Facility during the month of August, you might see blue jeans on Mondays and Team Jerseys on Fridays. That’s in support of the United Way. There are a handful of additional events that employees are teaming up for that we’d like to invite the public to participate in.

City of Casper employees are hosting a Community Impact Fundraising Event at PIZZA RANCH on Thursday, August 14th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Pizza Ranch will donate 20% of each order while employees bus tables, run pizza and talk with guests. Mention the City of Casper or United Way when you dine-in, pick-up, or order delivery from Pizza Ranch located at 5011 East 2nd Street or by phone at 307-237-1234.

The Bullwhip Catering Truck will be parked in the Parking Lot of City Hall (200 N David) on Wednesday, August 20th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Citizens, employees, customers and friends are invited to stop by and have lunch during this time. A portion of the daily proceeds will be donated to the United Way of Natrona County on behalf of the Employees of the City of Casper.

Enjoy a Short Stack for a Tall Cause on Saturday, September 6 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Applebee’s. Cost is just $7 per person. Tickets are limited and can be purchased in advance from the Casper Events Center at 307-235-8441. Applebee’s Restaurant is located at 359 Miracle Street in Evansville. City of Casper Employees will be on hand to serve you. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the United Way of Natrona County on behalf of the Employees of the City of Casper.

Employees will be bringing in their favorite baked goods and the public is invited to stop in to City Hall (200 N David) on Wednesday, August 27th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to buy a tasty treat and vote for their favorite entry in the Employees Bake Off. All proceeds will be donated to the United Way of Natrona County.

The United Way annually funds 28 local social services agencies that support local residents in need. Examples of these organizations include:

• Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies

• Children’s Advocacy Project

• Casper Youth Crisis Center

• Boys and Girls Club

• Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts

Just last year, the United Way was able to turn $400,000.00 of donations into $2.9 million of state and federal grants that continue to fund programs in our community. These funds have a direct impact on our city. For example, United Way of Natrona County partnered with Natrona County Meals on Wheels to help provide more than 181,000 meals this past year to over 850 homebound senior citizens and other individuals. This service is vital in helping individuals continue living independently in their own homes. Doing so saves them and their families from the expense of assisted living facilities. Those costs average $4,000.00 a month, in total, saving them and their families more than 3 million dollars each month. This, among many other examples, is the type of project that makes Casper a wonderful place to live.
