Casper Businessman Sonny Pilcher Sentenced to Prison
U.S. District Court Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Casper Businessman Sonny Pilcher to 12 months in prison followed by one year probation on tax charges. Pilcher is also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.
Pilcher, the owner of Elevation Sports Bar and Racks Gentlemen’s Club, pleaded guilty in June to claiming a false bad debt expense of $258,000 on his 2008 tax return. He also admitted to evading employment taxes by paying some of his employees with cash.
The offenses are alleged to have occurred between January 2007 and December 2009.
Judge Johnson gave Pilcher until February 23, 2015 to report for his sentence. The court also ordered Pilcher to reconcile all back taxes and outstanding penalties with the IRS. He will also be required to stay in compliance with the agency as a provision of his probation.
