The Wyoming Blues & Jazz Society is searching for the best blues musicians in Wyoming to represent us at the International Blues Challenge next year. The Blues Foundation will present the 31st International Blues Challenge in January 2015 in Memphis, TN. It is the world’s largest gathering of blues acts representing an international search by the Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations for the Blues Band and Solo/Duo Blues act ready to take their acts to the international stage. Competing in this Challenge is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that can change the course of your career.

The only way to enter this prestigious event is to be sponsored by a Blues Society that is an Affiliate of the Blues Foundation and each affiliate has the right to send a band and solo/duo act to represent the organization. The Youth Showcase is a non-competitive event for acts whose members will all be under 21 at the time of the IBC.

The 4th Annual Wyoming Blues Challenge will be held in the ballrooms at the Parkway Plaza Hotel in Casper, Wyoming on Sunday, July 20, 2014.

We follow the IBC format and scoring system. Full details can be found on the Blues Foundation website-www.blues.org. Click on the IBC logo. It is strongly advised that anyone considering entering to research the IBC thoroughly!! Competitors should be established acts of the quality you would expect to see on a festival stage.

Any band is invited to compete providing the leader is a Wyoming resident. All members of a solo/duo act must be Wyoming residents. Any entry must be committed to attending the International Blues Challenge and to participating in a fundraising show in the fall of 2014.

The WBJS will assist in fundraising and promotion but is not responsible for bearing the cost of the trip to Memphis; the contestants are.

A non-refundable entry fee of $50 for solo/duo acts and $75 for bands is payable at the time of registration. The entry deadline is May 1, 2014. Details and an entry form are available on our website – www.wyobluesandjazz.org. Entry fees will be used to pay the expenses of holding the WBC and any proceeds will be used to fund the winners’ trip to Memphis.
