Annual Purple Heart Run To Make Casper Stop
The 2017 “Purple Heart Run” will be making a stop in Casper July 21st, at Greiner Ford Powered by Litha. Organizers say the focus of this year's run is “Mobility is Freedom”, and features a mobility-equipped, 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor truck, adapted for combat-wounded veterans who are paralyzed or have lost legs or arms.
The Purple Heart Run, sponsored by Wounded Warriors Family Support and the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) is described as "the quintessential road trip whereby Purple Heart recipients themselves thank Americans from all across our great country for their appreciation and support of our nation’s military families for the sacrifices that they make when America goes to war. Driven by a combat wounded and disabled veteran, the Purple Heart Truck will make its way from coast-to-coast and back, rallying communities to thank our country’s military veterans and support this great mission."
The Purple Heart Run began in Virginia on the July 4th, is traveling across the country, and will end in Dallas, Texas at the site of the 2017 MOPH National Convention on August 12th. At stops along the way, they are providing "Combat Wounded" parking signs which have been placed in parking lots across the country. Organizers say "Americans of all walks of life are invited and encouraged to show their support for our military families by visiting one of the events on this year’s tour and signing the Ford truck with a message of support to our country’s veterans and their families."
The stop in Casper will be hosted by Greiner Ford Powered by Lithia at 3333 CY Avenue Friday, July 21st. They will be joined by the local chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and several dignitaries to honor and support the Run. Dinner will be served following a 4:30 p.m. presentation.
