The city of Casper's leisure services department expects 2013-2014 visitation numbers at Hogadon Ski Area to be strong compared to the prior season.

“We have a very good snow year, and I’m sure, once we have all of our numbers in, that we’ll show increased utilization,” Casper leisure services director Doug Follick said.

Follick says one particular equipment upgrade made during the off-season likely bolstered the number of novice skiers that attended the ski area.

“The biggest thing for this season was the magic carpet that was installed and ran the entire season,” Follick said. “I’m sure that, once we get all of our numbers in, we’ll show significant use on that.”

The city-owned Hogadon finished its season on Sunday. Follick says visitation numbers should be available in May.
