A Georgia man who was stopped for speeding in Wyoming over the weekend was arrested on a felony drug charge after deputies allegedly found over 100 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.

Oanh Trong Luong, 56, of Sugar Hill, Georgia, was booked into the Sweetwater County Detention Center on a felony possession charge. He remains in custody pending an initial appearance in Circuit Court.

In a news release, Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell said a deputy and his K9 partner stopped an Infiniti QX70 with California license plates for speeding on Interstate 80 Sunday afternoon near milepost 107.

The stop led to a search of the vehicle, Lowell says. During that search, some 112 pounds of marijuana was allegedly found in 37 triple-vacuum-sealed bags.

According to the news release, officials estimated the street value of the marijuana at well over $500,000.

Luong, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was arrested.

The news release did not identify the arresting deputy or K9 because, Lowell says, of threats being made nationwide against officers and their dogs who have been responsible for major drug seizures.
