The National Weather Service on Sunday upgraded Casper's winter storm watch to a warning, saying that western and central Wyoming should see significant snowfall through Monday night.

In Casper, up to seven inches of snow accumulation is expected with eight to nine inches expected in south Casper. Casper Mountain could see up to 15 inches of snow.

Elsewhere in Natrona County -- and in southeast Fremont County -- four to six inches of snow accumulation is expected. Jeffrey City will likely see six inches of snow.

As a result of the storm, the NWS and WYDOT expect that "severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible." Anyone who must travel during the storm is advised to keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle in case of an emergency.

The winter storm warning is in effect from 11 a.m. Monday through 5 a.m. Tuesday.
