Dustin Taylor of Riverton, Wyoming found himself in a position of having to get to Thermopolis and back but found the way blocked by the landslides and rock slides that tumbled down the sides of the Wind River Canyon and also blocked his quickest over the road route to town.

After a phone call to pilot Darren Bailey, a flight plan was placed and a 15 minute trip over and back turned into an hour long flight to survey some of the damage caused by mother nature.

According to Wydot as of 3pm May 26th, US 20 / WY 789 between Shoshoni and Thermopolis is expected to be closed for an extended period of time due to the landslide and expected additional heavy rainfall. Projected opening time is currently unknown.
