A motion has been filed to conduct a mental evaluation and delay the preliminary hearing for the man accused of shooting and killing his four children and brother and wounding his wife last week.

The initial appearance is expected in Wheatland Friday afternoon of the suspect tied to the killing of four people found shot to death in a trailer there. Everett Conant, in his mid 30s, was arrested after a brief standoff Thursday evening. The Platte County Sheriffs office reports the dead are reportedly from the same family and include three minors.
