PAVILLION, Wyo. (AP) — A man shot by a Fremont County sheriff’s deputy during an altercation at a residence in Pavillion has died.

A statement from the sheriff’s office Thursday said the deputy was “forced to use lethal force.”

The sheriff’s deputy had been responding to a report of a “disturbed, barricaded subject.” The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The deputy has been put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. The case has been turned over to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

The names of the victim and deputy weren’t immediately released.
