A Casper man has been arrested for pointing a gun at the wrong people, after his friend got into a fight.

34-year old Anthony Mendoza is facing two charges of aggravated assault.

Casper police say on Thursday evening, August 15th, Mendoza was at the Bryan Stock Trail duck ponds, when he got into an argument with another man.

One witness told police, Mendoza then left on a beer run.

While he was gone, one of his friends arrived, armed with a pipe and started a fight with the other man.

Afterwards, Mendoza returned, and saw another man approach his friend.

It was then, Mendoza pointed a BB gun, under the assumption that his friend had been hurt by the man approaching him, but that was not the case.

Mendoza also pointed the gun at the other man's wife, before he was informed that he was pointing it at the wrong people.

Police are still investigating the actual fight.

Mendoza is being held on $10,000 bond awaiting trial, and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors say additional charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and a habitual criminal charge could be forth-coming.
