Wyoming Lawmakers Still Looking For More Park Money

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming lawmakers are still trying to come up with ways to raise more money for the state park system.

Members of the Legislature's Joint Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee met Tuesday in Guernsey and agreed to pursue funding beyond the regular state budget.

The Associated Press reports they discussed possibly reviving a bill that would allow people to add a donation to the park system when withdrawing money from ATMs. The bill passed the Senate but died in the House by a few votes last session.

Another option being considered is setting up a trust fund to help supplement operating costs.

Committee members so far aren't interested in reviving a proposal to collect yearly visitors' fees rather than selling daily passes. That proposal also failed last session.
