The Wyoming Highway Patrol says two Wyoming residents died in a two-vehicle crash south of Casper on Sunday, according to the crash summary.

Brianna Coleman, 34, and Ricci Patterson, 40, died in the crash at mile post on Wyoming Highway 487, according to the crash summary.

A 2012 Jeep Patriot was traveling southbound and a 2015 Dodge Ram hauling a single-axle box trailer was traveling northbound.

The Dodge Ram crossed into the southbound lane where it collided head-on in an offset manner with the Jeep.

The Jeep came to rest off the road. The Dodge continued northbound, tripped and rolled, came to rest on its roof in the northbound lane, and caught fire.

Both drivers died at the scene. The Highway Patrol's news release did not say which person was driving which vehicle. A passenger was injured, but it was not stated in which vehicle they were traveling.

Witnesses told investigators that the Dodge had been speeding and passing other vehicles unsafely before the crash.

The roads were dry and the weather conditions were clear.

The Highway Patrol is investigating speed and driver inattention as possible contributing factors to the crash.
