Winter is fast approaching, and the city of Casper reminds residents that it's illegal to store a recreational vehicle on the street.

Shelly Leclere, Code Enforcement Supervisor with the city, says drifting snow, poor visibility, and icy roads mean the presence of boats, campers, trailers, and the like, can create a hazard.

"We are in the process of notifying every camper, horse trailer, whatever, that they need to get them off the street, because of the drifting snow issues that we have. We don't want property damage done, things like that."

Leclere says you may find a courtesy letter in the mail or a flyer taped to your RV, "and then, if time goes on, you may end up with a notice of violation asking you to please get it off the street if it's parked for more than five days in any 30 day period, five consecutive days."
