A homeless man admits he stole a 4-wheeler from a Casper business.

Thirty-six year old William Barton has pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary and one charge of property destruction.

Investigators say in July, Barton was working his way from Denver to Sheridan, when he stole a 4-wheeler from the Driven Power Sports business on English Avenue in Casper, and continued his trip on back-roads.

One day later, deputies from the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office were sent to investigate a man on a 4-wheeler begging for money.

They found Barton, and was able to connect him to the 4-wheeler burglary.

Barton also admitted to damaging another 4-wheeler, when he attempted to hot-wire it.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors will seek no more than a seven-to-nine year prison sentence.

Barton is being held on $50,000 bond and will be sentenced at a later date.
