Manuel Armenta managed to stay out of jail by sheer force of his charm. A member of the notorious Hole-in-the-Wall Gang, he was brought before a judge several times, accused of stealing horses. But he was never convicted. He once said there’s no harm in stealing from a thief. He called his ranch The Jack Pot, and people liked him for his friendliness and outgoing personality. He gave Natrona County part of its colorful past – and a name to Arminto, Wyoming.
