Casper City Council passed on third reading Tuesday evening an ordinance change that, for now, bans the open carry of weapons into city meetings.

Two amendments were made before the final vote, one of which applies a sunset to the amendment.

Council member, Kim Holloway, proposed adding a condition that brings an end to the open carry restriction when the Wyoming Legislature does the same and ends its ban on guns in the legislative chambers in Cheyenne.

An additional amendment was made that also removes pocket knives from the list of weapons restricted.
