Casper Native V. Vaughn Peterson died on February 13, 2013. She was 81. She was born October 29, 1931 to Hollis Bryan and Virginia Rose Brewer. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, February 18, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church. Interment will follow services at Highland Cemetery.

She was the first child, when she was 6 years old, to fly alone from Casper to Denver with a stop in Cheyenne to visit her Aunt,  on United Airlines.  She represented Casper at the Wyoming State Fair in Douglas in 1947. She was a member of the Roundup Club, and participated in many horse show events. She attended Girl’s State in 1948, and was honored Queen of  Job’s Daughters Bethel 28 in 1949.

She attended the University of Wyoming, and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She married Robert C. Peterson February 2, 1952. They lived in Glendive and Billings, MT, Casper, twice in Denver, Los Angeles and Houston. They moved to Casper in 1982. She belonged to Tamah Temple #73 Daughters of the Nile, Zilah Club, Friends of the Library, The Casper Antique and Collectors Club and the Pi Phi Alum Club. She was a past Wyoming State Regent and Fort Caspar Chapter Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. She is survived by her son Steve and wife Kathy of Colorado Springs, Daughter, Cheryl Burke and husband Dan of Davenport, IA, son, Scott of Casper; brother, Bryan Brewer of Potomac, MD; sister, Karen Nicholas of Longmont, CO and one granddaughter.

Memorials can be made to DAR, Humane Society of Casper or the Veterans Medical Center in Sheridan.
