Midwest, Edgerton Seek Firefighting EQ Dollars

Fire fighting equipment doesn't fit very well into the fire hall in Midwest and two of their trucks have been downgraded after 30 years of service.

The towns of Edgerton and Midwest are both in sore need of a firefighting  upgrade.  Recognizing their need  the towns are looking for the dollars to make it happen. Grant writing is part of that process and the Natrona County Commission on Tuesday agreed to help out with $8,000 to get the process going.

NC Commission Ponders Spending Perpetual Care Funds

Interest income to Natrona County is accruing in its perpetual care fund.  The fund represents one-cent dollars set-aside to accrue interest and they've grown to close to700,000 thousand.

Commission Chair, Ed Opella, would like to see that money applied to needed maintenance, but because they're one-cent funds the commission must bring the decision to the public.

Wind Tax Revenue Questions Continue

Lawmakers and lobbyists won't miss a beat in continuing to hammer out tax law for the growing wind industry in Wyoming. An interim committee meeting next week will consider how to rework a  bill that failed this last legislative session. The bill would have made changes the wind industry would like. This week Natrona County Commissioners met with a lobbyist for the Wyoming Wind Producers Coalition. Commissioner Rob Hendry came away from that meeting leaning toward the coalition's ideas.

Airport Preps Optic Fibre Grant App

Optic Fibre for the Business Park at Natrona County/Casper International Airport,  but not to the Logistics hub; that was the call as airport officials this week finalized an application for funding that would hopefully pay for it.

Change to City, County, Meeting Times Likely

Persistence appears to have paid off for the League of Women Voters in their efforts to improve access to public meetings.

Casper City Council and Natrona County Commission meetings have been overlapping for some time making it difficult for a civic minded citizen to attend both meetings should they so desired.  Recent efforts to change that may have paid off.

The president and CEO of the Casper Area Economic Development Alliance, Robert Barnes has been fired from his position.

That from a story in the Wyoming Business Daily that states the CAEDA  board met Thursday morning to discuss the issue, but is not certain when Barnes left.
